Support for National Athletics 2015 Spanish Athletics Federation




On Saturday 16 January the 21st edition of Spanish Athletics Gala, when awards were made to the best of 2015. This year the highest award was given to the walker Miguel Ángel López, world champion 20km walk in Beijing,  and the high-jumper Ruth Beitia,  winner of the high jump in the IAAF Diamond League. 

This year more than 100 awards were made, recognizing the contributions of

athletes, clubs, federations and companies in national athletics. Miguel Cardenal, president of the Sports Council, and Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee were present at the event.

The evening began with special awards from the Spanish Athletics Federation recognising the best achievements of last year, the best organisations and collaborators, medallists in international competitions, best clubs, regional federations, best promising athletes, best organisational trajectory, best veteran athletes, judges, feats of the year, best junior athletes, Spanish Athletics Federation patrons, year finalists and the awards for the best athletes of the year.

 

Podoactiva received an award from the Spanish Athletics Federation for their support for national athletics. Miguel Subirá, director of Podoactiva, collected the award and gave his thanks for the distinction. Subirá affirmed that Podoactiva’s support for Spanish athletics would continue, “because if we are united, we will succeed in boosting athletics even more”. In the same category, companies of the calibre of Bodegas Baigorri, Kinder, Viajes El corte Inglés, Mondo and Kyocera also received awards for their support for Spanish athletics.

 

The Spanish Athletics Gala dates back to 13 January 1996, the date of the first edition. Madrid is the city which has hosted the event the most times (on 14 occasions), an event where the best athletes, trainers, clubs etc of each season are given recognition, also the patrons, and collaborators with Spanish athletics.
