Thanks to expertise of Podoactiva in the sports sector and more specifically in football, we collaborate within the program Real Madrid Next/SCORE as a strategic company and benchmark in technologies applied to football.

AI4DIAG Project: “Distributed Artificial Intelligence for the early diagnosis and treatment of diseases with a high prevalence in aging” (R&D Missions Program in Artificial Intelligence 2021).

The general objective of this project is research and development of an intelligent system decentralized collection and analysis of data that allows the health system to anticipate and act early and ultra-fast in psychiatric, neurological, motor and degenerative diseases of great prevalence in the context of aging.


Podoactiva, will focus its efforts on sarcopenia, one of the most prevalent motor degenerative diseases in the elderly population that often causes frailty and subsequent dependency. Within the project, information will be provided on the way people walk through w intelligent, capable of collecting information about gait patterns, being able to identify anomalies in the same through artificial intelligence algorithms.

PREDICTIVA Project: artificial intelligence and robotization of processes in the automated manufacturing of personalized insoles. (Support Program for Innovative Business Groups).

The main objective of this project is to advance in the digital transformation of all Podoactiva's manufacturing and sale processes to end customers, reaching three main milestones: the development of a demand forecasting and predictive template maintenance module, a global optimization solution for the company's industrial processes, and the introduction of an intelligent robotic system for inserting and extracting templates from the line manufacturing.

Artificial Intelligence Project applied to the diagnosis and treatment of gait pathologies.

The general objective of the project is automate the obtaining of the ideal parameters of the insoles used in the treatment of foot pathologies, developing algorithms based on neural networks and natural language processing. All of this will allow, based on the information in the query form filled out by means of speech recognition and the different studies carried out on the patient, their pathology is classified and the optimal parameters of the template are obtained to treat it successfully.

INN-PRESSME: Open Innovation Ecosystem for the Deployment of Sustainable Plant-Based Nanoparticle Biomaterials for Packaging, Transport and Consumer Goods (Horizon 2020).

The objective of INN-PRESSME is to develop and implement a sustainable OITB (Open Innovation Test Bed) to promote the increase in technological maturity levels of nanobiomaterials and nanoprocesses from TRL 4-5 to 7 in European companies.


The project will focus on (nano) cellulose, bioplastics and natural fibers, with which, through nanotechnology approaches, tailor-made biomaterials with properties and functionalities (barrier, antibacterial properties, better corrosion resistance, better chemical resistance, etc.) equal to or greater than their fossil counterparts at competitive prices.


Podoactiva, within the project, will validate new materials and processes for the manufacture of novel designs of its personalized insoles integrated into shoe soles through the use of ecological materials with nanofunctionalized properties that contribute to a circular and sustainable economy.

STANDUP Project: Thermal Analysis for Prevention and Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers (Horizon 2020).

This project arises as a result of the serious public health problem that the presence and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers represents today. Given this perspective, the STANDUP project is based for its development on the following facts:


  • The new potential of thermal information in the context of diabetic foot in a friendly and efficient way, using a Smartphone.
  • The recent and great technological advances of Smartphones and thermal cameras for them.
  • The enormous possibilities of all this in healthcare and the world market, for the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers and for future detection of other pathologies.

Podoactiva within the project, brings all its know-how and experience in the treatment of diabetic foot, in addition to develop an exclusive and innovative specific template for this type of pathology.

Smart Insoles Ecosystem (SIE) (Challenges-collaboration 2019).

The general objective of the project is to give a step further in terms of the technology that integrates the intelligent template. In this way, the project aims to develop an ecosystem of products around Podoactiva's smart template, being able to create a high value in the health, sports and wellness markets. Thanks to the development of this project, the intelligent template will evolve its technology towards 5G. From this goal derives the main technical objective: to develop a technological core, based on the world of the Internet of Things (IoT).


The development of the project will also allow the evolution of your connection through applications in smartphones, Smart Watches or Gateways of communications, as well as the establishment of an infrastructure cloud capable of storing, managing and exploiting the information collected.

Project "Artificial intelligence applied to the biomechanics of the foot through intelligent insoles"
(CDTI, 2019-2020).

This project aims to take another leap over the previous CDTI project, developing for the intelligent Podoactiva template, artificial intelligence algorithms that allow extracting and processing information of a higher level of utility for patients and sports professionals. This project makes it possible to increase the added value of the intelligent workforce by measuring data in real time in the daily life of patients, applying artificial intelligence and processing up to 500 data per second.

Smart Insole Project (CDTI, 2016-2017).

Project carried out together with the University of Zaragoza. This project laid the foundations for a Podoactiva personalized sensorized insole and has a electronic module that is attached to the shoe and a user App for managing and displaying the resulting information. As a result of the project, the first smart insole on the market was obtained, which has meant a revolution in the field of biomechanics and has allowed Podoactiva to position itself as a pioneering company in this type of technology applied to podiatry.
