Onicomicosis
nail fungus
Onychomycosis is a fungal infection affecting the toenails, being responsible for more than half of the cases of nail alteration.
El contagion of this pathology can be due to different factors and is much more frequent in the elderly, diabetic or immunosuppressed population and in people who frequent swimming pools, changing rooms, gyms, as well as in professions that require the use of closed shoes, especially in hot environments and wet.
Laser treatment (K-Laser)
The K-Laser that we use in some Podoactiva clinics is a novel technique to treat onychomycosis or fungal infection of the nails achieving results in a few sessions and without the need to take medication.
It's a painless treatment, the patient only perceives a sensation of intense heat in the area. Usually it is enough with about 4 sessions of about 6 minutes. It has no side effects and can be applied in all patients.
The laser application is a high temperature source that makes both fungus and spores disappear. This treatment employs the principle of selective photothermolysis and takes advantage of the differences in laser energy absorption and thermal conductivity between the fungal infection and the surrounding tissue.
