Triple Propeller award for a SME2015
09 Mar 2016The University of Zaragoza has awarded the Triple Propeller Award to Podoactiva for the efforts we make to improve the quality of people’s lives, by carrying out a highly innovative activity, collaborating from the very start with the Institute for Engineering Research in Aragon (I3A) at the University of Zaragoza. The award was collected by our director general, José Víctor Alfaro.
The Triple Propeller award represents three components – University, Company and Society – which work in a co-ordinated way to generate wealth and recognition.
The event was presided by the Vicerrector of Trasnference and Innovation Technology, Pilar Zaragoza; the Councillor of Industry and Innovation of the Government of Aragón, Arturo Aliaga; and the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Aragón and Honorary President of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, Manuel Teruel.
This event was born from the desire to stimulate integration between society, companies and the university, as the potential for innovation and economic development of a region should be based on help for society based on knowledge; for which it is necessary for the government, companies and the university to work together to generate innovative methods of production, transference and the application of knowledge.
There were two separate parts: the Elevator Pitch competition, designed to recognise the best researchers and entrepreneurs who work with companies; and a second, whose objective is to recognise companies, heads of companies and institutions which have worked with the university.
The Triple Propeller award was given to Podoactiva, company based in biotechnology, specializing in podiatry and en biomechanics, which strives to increase the quality of life of people, and which carries out a highly innovative activity, which, ever since it began, has collaborated with the Institute of Research in Engineering in Aragón (I3A) in the University of Zaragoza. Víctor Alfaro collected the award.
The Triple Propeller for large companies was won by BSH Electrodomésticos, for its continued collaboration with the University of Zaragoza, since 1981, which has led to important creations such as the induction oven. This collaboration has situated BSH as the leading European Company in innovation in domestic appliances, according to “2015 State of Innovation”, by Thomson Reuters, and to the University of Zaragoza as the world-leading university in this area. The award was collected by Miguel Ángel Buñuel.
The Chair award was given to SAMCA of the University of Zaragoza. The SAMCA group, a family Company which employs over 3,500 people, has operations in Spain, France and Italy. and works in collaboration with the generation of knowledge from the University of Zaragoza. It has two chars – Technological Development in Aragón (created en 2003) and Nanotechnology (created in 2011). It was collected by Miguel Ángel Caballero.
Finally, the Institution award was given to Arturo Aliaga, representative of the Department of Industry and Innovation of the Government of Aragón. Since being appointed to head that department, the University of Zaragoza has had a person to listen to and collaborate with in order to bring projects to fruition to the benefit of all the Aragonese people.
