Most innovative SME 2015

On 26th November in Madrid The Forum of Innovative Companies (FEI) held the 3rd edition of the awards ceremony for Recognition of Innovation, awards to distinguish the work of different organisms, companies and Spanish personalities connected to innovation.  The awards are made in three different categories: Organism Supporting Innovation, Innovative Researcher and Innovative Company

On this occasion, in the Innovative Company 2015 category, the FEI has recognised the work of the Huesca company PODOACTIVA, company specialising in podiatry and biomechanics, with a biotechnological base, which works to increase the quality of life of people by improving their gait, applying innovation technology for the diagnosis, design and manufacture of personalized treatments.

For the Organism of Support for Innovation 2015, the award went to the National Centre of Oncology Research, (CNIO) whose essential mission is to carry out research and offer innovative technology in the field of cancer for the National Health service and the National Science and Innovation System.

In the category for innovative researcher, the award recognised the work of researcher Mateo Valero, head of the National Supercomputing Centre in Spain.

In the presentation, the jury emphasised the innovative activity carried out by Podoactiva, for the benefit of its patients, the collaboration it maintains with universities and research centres, and its capacity for reinventing a mature sector such as podiatry.  For Podoactiva it has been a real honour to receive this important prize and to share it with the National Oncology Research Centre (CNIO) and with the great researcher Mateo Valero.

José Victor Alfaro, Managing Director of the Company of Podoactiva, on collecting the award said “This award is for each and every member of our team. Thanks to all the people who contribute all their ability, hard work and enthusiasm to the organisation, it is possible to achieve our goals and continue to innovate. This award is for all the team, because they are the real protagonists in everything we achieve.”

For Podoactiva, innovation is not the goal, nor should it be for any company; it is an attitude and a path. For Alfaro, the whole company should think in innovation mode, if if it really wishes to be an innovative company “ little improvements lead to great changes “.

Finally, the general director of Podoactiva dedicated the award to his father, who had died 4 years previously of ALS. He went on to say “since I was small I learned from my father who was an arable farmer with a smallholding, that we can always do better. All my life I have studied him improving his work with a smile on his face. That is the spirit I try to pass on to my team. “

From Podoactiva we would like to thank FEI for this important recognition and express our firm conviction to continue to invest in innovation and collaboration between universities and companies.
